Merchandising Director of Accessories

Join Road Runner Sports as our next Merchandising Director of Accessories. In this role you will be responsible for the overall accessories merchandising category and function for the organization. You will direct the development of accessories merchandise strategies and tactical plans while ensuring a beneficial vendor alliances and an effective buying organization. Drive the Company’s accessories merchandising strategies, team members and train the organization to merchandise an assortment of accessories products to meet our customers’ needs while position product promotions, maintain a level of quality necessary for the business and establish annual product margin.

What you will get to do as the Merchandising Director of Accessories:

• Compile information from research, vendors, consumers, customers and Companies Team Members to keep abreast of consumer needs in the accessories running and fitness areas and translate these needs into proper strategies.
• Direct the development of seasonal accessories merchandise assortment, sales, product margin, and sourcing plans. You establish annual product margin and sales goals in conjunction with Vice President of Merchandising, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Team.
• Maintain accessories vendor relationships in order to negotiate and obtain product and service information such as price, availability, delivery schedule, disposition of defective and discontinued merchandise, and other quality considerations.
• Control the relationships between the Company and its product vendors and continually appraise the performance of those vendors.
• Direct competitive surveys to ensure that the Road Runner Sports accessories assortment is superior to that of it’s competitors while still meeting profit level objectives and that its product are priced to generate the required gross margin while being competitive with similar products in the market place.
• Lead, train and motivate Team Members to meet the goals of the Merchandising Accessories Team.
• Ensure that appropriate departments have input into the merchandise planning function and have the information they need to create a WOW customer experience.
• Identify new business and accessories opportunities for the Company along with Marketing and continually seek opportunities for Road Runner Spots to further develop and grow its existing business and achieve its overall goals.
• Be a key contributor on the Company’s Directors Team, and assist in developing, communicating, and implementing the Company's strategies and policies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university plus a minimum of 10 years of merchandising in a catalog or retail company preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proficiency in excel to both produce & analyze reports of data for product assortment and the development of business strategies.
• Demonstrate an advanced level of skill set in Word and Outlook
• Display excellent communication skills and the ability partner with other departments to recognize and resolve issues related to the achievement of Company goals and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a high attention to detail & ability to work independently 
• Possess strong analytical skills to interpret data and problem solve in a creative manner 
• Ability to present information in a clear and compelling way
• Able and willing to travel up to 20% of the time
